We saw Rarotonga from the ship. Only one of the six cruises before ours actually allowed passengers to go ashore. The seas do not cooperate with the ship's tenders. We did circle the island twice. Our cabin was 8043, on the starborad side, and the island remained on the starboard side for the circumnavigation of Rarotonga. The photos were taken from our balcony. Unless Rarotonga equips its northern port for a ship to dock or unless they build an optional tender port to the south of the island, be prepared to see Rarotonga from aboard the Tahiti Princess as we did. If you plan your activities before the trip, do NOT pay a deposit. We were going to rent scooters, explore the island, and spend some time snorkling at Fruits of Rarotoga on the SE side of the island and spend some time at Muri beach. I had to rent the scooters in advance. I requested a refund, but no refund has been granted. Still, three days at sea was relaxing, and because we missed going ashore on Rarotonga, we were able to stay two full days in beautiful Bora Bora.
