Most of the pictures I took of sharks were of the black tip reef shark. They were very common in all lagoons visited in French Polynesia and at the cuts in the barrier reefs. These sharks are fish eaters, with a particular taste for mullet. Since I do not look, smell (usually), or taste like a mullet, I approached them with impunity. The largest concentration of sharks that I saw (about 30 in one area) were in the Bora Bora cut with Patrick Tairua. However, I did not get good shots of that encounter. Patrick Tairua, by the way, is probably the best native guide in Bora Bora.
