  1. Double-click on the Adaware SE icon on your desktop to open the program:

  1. Update Adaware SE by clicking on the globe.

  1. Click on connect:

  1. Take the defaults to upload the latest definition. If  you are current, you will see the following box (and there will be nothing to do but click OK).

  1. Click Finish when update is finished:

  1. Now that  your definition files are updated, it is time to start the checking. Click on the START button:

  1. Select a scan mode (The normal selection would be smart scan which is fast. However, once a month, you will want to select a FULL SCAN. It is slower but does a better job than smart scan. If you notice anything strange when using the web or if you notice your computer getting slower, you may wish to use full scan. I always use full scan even though it takes more time. I also run this after heavy web use. .. so I actually do it more than once per week. That way I get better performance from my computer).  After you (1) select the scan mode, (2) click on the next button:

  1. The scan will begin:

  1. If there are no objects found. The numbers will stay black, a green check will be seen, and you will see a FINISHED button to click: However, chances are if the computer has visited the web, there will be some. In that case the black zeros from above will change to red numbers. When finished a red bug will blink if there were any critical objects (spyware/adware/mailware) found. The “cancel” button will change to a “next” button. Click on NEXT:

  1. The next window will display the critical objects that are found. Check all (This can be done by right-clicking in the white space and selecting “SELECT ALL OBJECTS”:

  1. After Critical objects are checked (You can also click n the negligible objects and check them, too, for deleting), Click on the NEXT button:

  1. Confirm that you want all objects removed!

  1. Close the final window. You are done!
