Backing up when you have a computer
with Deep
Freeze
If you have deep freeze on your computer, your computer responsibilities have become much less. No more weekly tasks or monthly tasks! All you must do is back up your personal files regularly. How regularly? You should back up whenever you would cry if you lost all of your personal files since your last backup. How often will that be? For some, immediately after creating an important file. For others, it will be daily. For others, it may be weekly or monthly. You may be a fortunate person who never backs up and yet you never lose anything. However, if you do lose important information, you only have yourself to blame for not backing up. The process takes very little time.
With deep freeze, the system files on the C-drive are secure. The C-drive is “frozen”, meaning that no permanent changes can be made. To solve any problem with the computer merely takes a reboot. That is all. The only thing that can go wrong is that your personal files on the thawed T-drive become contaminated… or you loose those files because of a bad sector on the hard drive or they get accidently deleted. (It has already happened!)
Backing up files on computers with deep freeze is actually easier than on computers without deep freeze. Why? Because you no longer have to search for what needs to be backed up. You simply back up everything on the T-drive. The procedure is a little different than what you did before, so let’s go over it.
Let’s take a look at the process:
Open up WS_FTP by clicking on its icon.
Type in “backup” in the profile box. When you type “backup”
in the profile box, the UserID and password should fill in. If not, you can set
it up so that it does. Make sure you check the SAVE PWD box and uncheck the
ANONYMOUS box!

CLICK OK. ![]()
After clicking OK, the main WS_FTP
program window will appear with the local system (your computer) on the
left and the remote system (the backup server) on the right. Navigate to
your personal directory on the left side using the green arrow to go up the
directory tree or the directory folders to go down the tree until you reach the
directory that you wish to back up.

Scroll down on your local system window (left side) so that you can find the T-drive. Double click on the T-drive. That will show the contents of your t-drive:
Select all folders in the T-drive except for the Recycler. Click on the ŕ button.

When the folders appear or reappear on the remote site (server) side, you are done!
You can walk away until it is done, and the whole process
should take you less than one minute!
