What NOT to worry about

  1. DON’T WORRY: If you get a message that your computer has its firewall turned off and may be at risk, do not worry about it. The network is firewalled. I did not set firewall on your computers because it takes a lot of your computer resources for no purpose.
  2. DON’T WORRY: If a window from Microsoft Antispyware appears and it is green in color, do not worry about it. Do not worry about blue popups if you are installing something or making a change that you want.  (WORRY: However, if a blue box appears unexpectantly, it means some change is taking place on your computer. Read it over and decide if you want that change.  If a RED box pops up, do not allow the change. The RED box means there is a virus, spyware or other mischief trying to make changes on your computer.)
  3. DON’T WORRY: If your computer is doing an auto update, if you change a setting on your computer, if you download a codec to see a special video clip, if you update some software, Spybot and/or Spyware Blaster may pop up a gray box stating that a change is taking place. Usually, do not worry about it, because you want the change.  (WORRY: However if you get a warning box from Spybot or Spyware blaster when merely visiting a web site, you will probably want to deny any changes. Most likely the website is trying to make changes on your computer that you do not want.)
  4. DON’T WORRY: If you can not update Spybot, Adaware, Spywareblaster, AVG at a certain time, don’t worry about it. Just try later. Remember that most of your software should update itself, but Spywareblaster and AdawareSE will not.
  5. DON’T WORRY: If Autoupdate says there is an update ready, you do not have to immediately update. It will do so at 3 AM (if your computer is on). You can, of course, update on the spot if you so desire.
  6. DON’T WORRY: If Microsoft Anti-spyware declares that it needs to update itself, go ahead and do so. It is safe.
  7. DON’T WORRY: If Autoupdate, AVG, or other software messages that your computer needs to reboot. You may safely reboot at anytime that you wish.
