Directions: From the Periferico circuling Merida, going North about 7 miles you will see a sign for Dzibilchaltun. Head right for about 2 miles. Then you will see where to take a right to enter Dzibilchaltun ruins. The ruins are oriented E-W (about a mile wide). The largest structures are on the east end. The famous sink hole (cenote) is on the west end.
Dzibilchaltun (tzee-BEEL-chahl-toon) means the "place where there is writing on stones." The Museum of the Maya People is one of the best museums in the Yucatan. It is said, that the Temple of the Seven Dolls is positioned so that each year on the spring and fall equinox, the sun shines directly through the doorway as it rises. (I think I have a door that does that, too, if I stand in the correct spot!)
