Click here to see about renting our neighbor's great house. Our house is now reserved for my family, for folks we know personally as trustworthy, our friends, and our relatives. However, please browse this site for information concerning Uaymitun and surrounding areas of the Yucatan, MX. Most of this information also is useful for my neighbor's house. He just openned his house back up for rent. It is a great place to stay.
Rent My Neighbor's house For: $550 - $1,500 USD per week (Our house is not Available)

You will not find a nicer, larger, better-equipped home for rent on the Yucatan beach! And this stretch of Uaymitun has one of the nicest, largest beaches, too!
This home was renovated and painted duirng summer 2006. Read on, take a look at the pictures, and see why this beach house stands out.

Are you looking for a nice large beach villa on a beautiful beach in the romantic Yucatan? Are you looking for a Mexican beach house on a broad white-sand beach with abundant sea shells and turquoise water? Are you looking for a Beach rental with breath taking views? Try our nice beach rental in upscale Uaymitun. This fully furnished 5000 sq-ft beach villa in the Progreso-Chicxulub-Uaymitun area has 4 bedrooms and 4 baths in the main house and another bedroom and the separate air-conditioned gym with bath could serve as a 5th bedroom or Maids-Quarters as needed. Hammock hooks are located throughout the house. We have a care-taker that comes in once per week to clean. There is a 2nd floor balcony overlooking the ocean and a rear balcony overlooking the flamingo sanctuary. There is a large great room on the first floor. There is a first floor patio with swimming pool, outdoor shower and outdoor bar. The property contains 22 coconut palms, a covered car patio that can park several cars, and landscaped grounds. Uaymitun is much less crowded than Chixulub. No neighbors to the North (beach), South (wildlife refuge), or West (vacant lot). The beach is wide, very white sand that does not burn the feet. Uaymitun, originally a cocomut plantation, is one of the few areas in the Yucatan state with a shallow reef for snorkling. It is the most upacale area in the Yucatan, with million dolloar plus homes. This is a paradise for those who love to hunt sea shells. Sit in a hammock on the 2nd floor balcony, feel the breeze, listen to the palm branches flutter and the ocean waves splash, read a book, and sip a drink... or actively participate in water sports. The houses in the area are upscale. This is where the hotel owners of Cancun prefer to have their homes! There is a fully equiped kitchen. Linens and towels are furnished. This house is not just a rental. It is our vacation home. We share with family and very close friends. Thus, we rent out our home to responsible adults.

This beach is easier to get to than Cancun. Fly directly into Merida (MID airport code) via Continental, Delta (non-stop from Atlanta),
Mexicana, Aeromexico, and others. Aviacsa Airlines for rates as low as $125 one-way from LAX and Las Vegas with 7-day advance purchase. Check out discounters and bargain search engines such as http://www.kayak.com, http://www.sidestep.com, and http://www.cheaptickets.com. Rent a car** (** My neighbor owns a car rental agency and the VW dealerships in Merida and Campeche... He gives special deals to our renters. Great rates. Ask me about it if you rent our house. I think I can help you save money and grief.), stop at Costco, Sams Club, or Walmart for groceries, and be at the beach in 35 minutes.
Merida is inexpensive to fly into, a very clean and modern airport, and (YEAH!) never crowded. It is quick and easy to fly into and out of Merida.
Cancun is a 3 1/2 hour drive. 30-60 minutes to Merdia, depending on where you want to go.
If you fly into Cancun, you have two options:
One option is to rent a car in Cancun, drive across to Merida on the uncroweded, fast, toll-road,
take the perimeter expressway north arouond Merida to the Progreso exit, take the 4-lane (soon to be 8-lane) lighted highway to Progreso,
and then turn right (east) on the 4-lane lighted beach road in front of the Progreso PREMEX gas station. Our house is at the 16km marker. I have a property manager who can be called to help you
if you should get confused with directions. He can also meet you in the Merida-Progreso area to lead you to the beach house and let you in.
Your best rental rates will be found on line at such sites as Cheap tickets. However, remember that in addition to the online rates,
you will have to obtain 3rd person liability insurance. Your US insurance policy is NOT good in Mexico. Your Visa Gold or higher-level card will cover collision insurance,
but it does not cover liability. When I last checked the 3rd-party liability coverage offered by airport rentals was $13/day. There was also an airport tax.
The other option from Cancun is to take the bus to Merida.
For 10 pesos (approx $1) per person, you take the express ADO bus from the airport terminal to the Cancun bus terminal. You then get a bus ticket to Merida. The UNO
busline is simiilar to first class plane transportation. See http;//www.uno.com.mx for the bus schedule. Choose the ticket from Cancun
to Fiesta Americana Hotel in Merida. It is non-stop direct. There are car rental places in Fiesta Americana in Merida. Next in quality is the ADO-GL
bus line which is similar to business class plane transportation. See http://www.ado-gl.com.mx for the bus schedule. The
ADO busline, http:www.ado.com.mx has more frequent trips, but it is a bit more crowded, like standard air seats. There are buses that
run between Merida and Progreso and vans that run between Progreso and can drop you off at the beach house in Uaymitun, but a car will give you more flexibility.
If you arrive at the Merida airport:
Pick up your rental car there. It is a short hop to the perimeter highway. Take the Progreso exit. You can go south into Merida a short way to Sams or Costco first..
or north to Progreso. The divided, lighted highway runs quickly into Progreso. Turn right in front of the PREMEX gas station. The beach road is a divided highway for
the first 9 kilometers (lighted for the first 8 kilometers), and becomes a two-lane paved road for the remaining 7 kilometers.
There is no traffic on this road except for July and August. At the 16km sign, you will see the "Vista del Delfin" sign and see our blue house. It is easy to find. Usually,
guests meet our property manager, Arturo, along the way and follow him the house where he gives you an orientation and gives you a set of keys and cell phone.
If you do not wish to rent a car: There are public buses that run between Merida and Progreso. The fare is very cheap.
Public transportation goes right behind this beach house every 20 minutes towards Chicxulub, Progreso, Merida and Telchac.
However, we suggest renting a car because it gives you greater flexibility. I am told that National Car Rental in downtown Merida gives the best rates with the liability insurance, but I have not used them.
I have used Maya Car Rental on Calle 60 in Merida who gave me good rates. Alvaro, who speaks perfect English, in Progreso can arrange great rates from there.
Email me for his contact infomration.

| Extras Not Found In Most Rental Homes: |
 |
Our caretakers clean the house once per week, and take care of the
pool maintenance. English spoken by property manager. Phone provided for 24-7 contact/help from property manager. For speical needs, such as getting a cook or daily maid service, email me or talk to the property manager. The locals in nearby Chicxulub are extremely friendly. You can find there
most of the services: laundry, telephone, internet, market (meat,
seafood, veggies, etc), video store, etc. There is laundry at our beach house. Satellite TV and Internet connection in the beach house.
My Satellite connection is top-of-the-line 7000 series: the only one that I am aware of that is stable and can utilize VOIP boxes(such as Vonage).
Therefore, bring one if you have it. There is a phone and network cord at the house for your Vonage/VOIP box. However, warn callers that such calls are more like over-and-out radio calls since there can be time delays.
I have established wireless internet (802.11b and 802.11g) throughout the house and grounds with strongest signal on floor 2.
If you have a Verizon cell phone, see your dealer to get on the North American plan during your stay. Then they can call you just as if you were in the US.
You can also call the US and Canada with no sur-charge, but you must dial 01 instead of 1 before the area code.
The best cell phone reception is on the beach, out by the road or on the 2nd floor. A Mexican cell phone will be provided for you so that you can reach my property manager at any time
in case you have any problems or special needs.
You probably are going on vacation to relax, but if you want to excercise,
two kayaks are provided. Please do not drag them. Two people can easily carry them to the water. After ueing them, please rince them off and store them out of the sun.
In addtion to the kyacks, there is an air conditioned Gymnasium with excercise machines and weights for a full workout. The beach and ocean, of course,
are at your use for excercise!
This home is not just a rental, but it is our vacation home and eventual retirement home. We did extensive research and looking before deciding to purchase this home.
We then fixed it up to our liking. We added some features, such as the air conditioners in case some renters don't share our joy of the sound of waves and coconut fronds
in the cooling breeze over the sound of air-conditioners. We added a freezer at the request of one of our renters, and we are always interested in your feedback after renting
so that we increase the positive experiences of future renters.
We hate to leave this house when we are there, and we feel that you will fall in love with it as we have.
