COMING FROM CANCUN BY CAR:
From the airport go toward Cancun Central (not the hotel zone).
Follow any signs that say Chichen Itza or Merida . This will lead you to the
toll-road (known as the CUOTA) which is highway 180. Take Highway 180 (toll road, Cuota)
to Merida. After traveling about 300 Km
on highway 180, you will come to the first streetlight. Take a right and follow this road (this is
the Perifico or main ring road) until you get to the Progreso exit, You
are now about 30 minutes from the “Vista del Delfin”
beach house. Take a right on this 4-lane
divided lighted highway and drive North to Progreso. When you reach Progreso, you will see a
large gas station on your right. (This would be a great location to meet Arturo
who could guide you the rest of the way.)
Just before the gas station, there is a 4-lane road on your right that
leads to the beach house. To go directly to the beach house, turn right just
before the gas station onto the divided 4-lane road. This road is labeled with
Kilometer markers. The first 8 kilometers are lit at night and the first 9
kilometers of road are 4-lane. The remaining 7 kilometers of road is two-lane,
unlit, but with almost no traffic (except for July and August). Continue to the 16 kilometer marker. You will drive past the UAYMITUN sign, drive
past the giant parrot at a house on your right, drive past the Flamingo
Observation tower on your left. The 16
km marker is only a few meters past our house, so if you go past the 16 km
marker, you just went past your destination!. In front
of the house is a large lighted sign that says “Vista Del Delfin”
with 3 dolphins. It follows the house with the “KV” sign. (The KV sign glows in
the dark).
Note: Please make sure you have a
full tank of gas before leaving the Cancun area. Also, please make sure you have money for
the toll road.
COMING FROM MERIDA AIRPORT BY CAR:
Driving Directions from Merida Airport
From Merida airport, simply take the Perifico (ring road) north towards Progreso
and follow the same directions as above from that point.
IF YOU WANT TO
STOP BY SAM’S CLUB OR COSTCO:
At the intersection of the Perifico
and the Progreso exit, if you want to go by Sam’s
Club and Costco, you would go south instead of North. However, there is a large
new store now, next to the gas station in Progreso
where you can buy a lot of food and things that you might need for an extended
stay.
